Tbh I kind of doubt we’ll see a lot of journalists writing about how badly they’re doing their jobs.

Relevant in case you’re interested though, back during GDC, I was having lunch with Zoe, a very successful indie dev friend of hers, and a games jousrnalist.

As we finished up our meals, journalist asked the dev which games were worth covering, then went on to brag about how great this secret “ask the devs” technique was. Apparently he reasoned that if he wanted to know what games deserved success, he should just ask someone who’d made a successful game.

To the dev’s credit, he seemed quick to respond with an evenhanded suggestion, but it’s not difficult to see how he could have abused his position to, say, plug a friend’s game.
